Windrow
or Static Pile Composting
This is a simple, and very
popular large scale composting method which comprises placing
organic waste in long piles (windrows). Regular turning provides
aeration to promote decomposit-ion, or alternatively the pile may be
left undisturbed (static), if forced aeration (ASP) systems are used.
Visit this Commercial Composting web site for more information.
Includes on-farm
composting , by farmers for use on their own land.
Worm Composting (Vermiculture)
This is a very popular and
increasingly common form of composting. It can be used both at large
scale and small.
The compost quality produced
from the worm casts is usually considered to be the very best, and as a
result vermiculture compost commands the highest price premium of any
of the compost types. Visit this India Centred Composting site for more
information.
